Some weekends just fall into place.
Ours in Melbourne for the Australian Open was exactly that — world-class tennis, beautiful food, a hotel we genuinely loved, and that unmistakable Melbourne energy that makes you want to linger just a little longer.
It felt special from the moment we arrived.
We based ourselves at the W Melbourne, and it was exactly the vibe we wanted.
Stylish without being try-hard. Luxurious but still relaxed. The kind of place that feels fun the moment you walk in, but also lets you properly exhale after a long day.
And here’s the part I loved most — we booked the entire stay using Marriott Bonvoy points converted from Pay.com.au.
There’s something deeply satisfying about turning points into a stay like this. Central. Elevated. Right in the heart of the city. It felt like we’d already won before the tennis even began.

If you’re going to the Australian Open, I really believe in leaning in.
We booked a premium package through the tournament, and it made the whole experience feel seamless and genuinely special from start to finish.
The day began with a three-course lunch at Club 1905. Instead of rushing around between matches or grabbing something quick, we sat down and really enjoyed it.
Refined food. Polished service. That calm-before-the-excitement feeling.
It completely set the tone.
We then made our way to Rod Laver Arena — and the seats were incredible.
Being that close changes everything. You hear the ball connect with the racquet. You feel the crowd tighten in big moments. You notice the footwork, the focus, the tiny details you’d never catch on TV.
We attended the men’s semi-finals and watched Carlos Alcaraz live.
And knowing he would go on to win the final? WOW.
His speed, his composure, the way he controls the court — it’s something else in person. Watching elite sport live has a different energy entirely. It’s not just about the result. It’s about being there in that moment.
The following day we watched the women’s final, where Elena Rybakina claimed the title. The atmosphere inside the arena was electric — day matches feel different to night matches, and I loved experiencing both.
There’s a buzz in that stadium that gives you chills.
Outside the courts, we made sure to savour Melbourne properly.
One of the absolute highlights of the weekend was dinner at Steer Dining Room.
From the first bite to the last, it was exceptional. Incredible steak. Thoughtful sides. Warm, polished service that makes you feel looked after without it ever feeling formal.
It wasn’t just dinner — it was one of those meals you talk about weeks later.
And that’s Melbourne. The tennis is world-class, but the food scene quietly competes for your attention.
Between the premium tennis experience, unforgettable matches, incredible dining, and a hotel stay that felt like a reward in itself, it really was an epic weekend.
But what stayed with me most wasn’t just the luxury or the sport.
It was the feeling of slowing down and properly enjoying it.
Not rushing. Not ticking boxes. Just being present — on and off the court.
Melbourne delivered in every way, and the Australian Open absolutely lived up to its reputation.
If you’re ever considering going… do it properly. It’s worth it.
Lots of love,
